 Screen Cast Software

A very popular option for making videos is the use of screencast software.  The concept is simple.  You hit the record button and the software will record whatever is on your screen and your voice at the same time and turn it into a video!  There are several such software programs available.  Probably the most popular at this time is Camtasia.  It’s about $300 and it will do just about anything that you want it to do.  It has some very nice features including video editing so that if you do make a mistake you can edit that part out of your production and not have to start all over and record the entire video again.

I am most familiar with CamStudio, a free open source program that does a good job with the recording, but is very limited as far as features are concerned.  When you remember that it is free, it is a great program!

I will mention one more.  Jing is another software program made by the makers of Camtasia.  It is also free and it does a good job with the recording, but is very limited as far as features are concerned.  I have used Jing some, but for some reason, I have just stayed with CamStudio.
